Summer Produce Iron Chef Round Up!

Today was a great event where folks brought in a random assortment of summer produce – fruits and vegetables – and together we came up with a lunch menu using the produce and a stocked pantry. We had a lot to work with so it was pretty easy to come up with something tasty.

Here’s our luncheon menu:

To join in the fun, my fellow bloggers have submitted recipes using summer produce. As I do with each blogging event I host, a lucky blogger receives a giveaway related to the food theme. This event’s winner is Oakley of LemonBasil! Oakley will be receiving a Farmers Market cookbook packed with some great recipe ideas for all produce imaginable. Congratulations Oakley and thanks to all that participated in the blogging event! Read on to check out the pics submitted by my fellow bloggers…

  1. Actually Nigella’s was for red-gooseberries (yet another fruit one could use I suppose, LOL) but that seemed a bit too british to be easy to get on the cheap or fresh enough to warrant a summer produce spotlight.

I’m totally kicking myself for not buy more of Target’s 2 for $4 blueberries yesterday though as the galette sounds and LOOKS sooo good…

  2. Excellent roundup Joelen. I really like the way you’ve displayed the great recipes! Looking forward to participating in future events.

  3. Fabulous photos – your blog is laid out so well!

I just wanted to make sure…for this month’s edition of Tasty Tools, I can make absolutely anything as long as I use a whisk?

  4. Thanks! I am trying to enter more blogging contests/events to meet new people an challenge myself in the kitchen. What is the hardest [culinary] obstacle you have overcome?

  5. I’ve been meaning to try my hand at focaccia for so long it seems I still needed a nudge. This delicious garlic and rosemary pairing is that nudge. I’m a garlic fan so I’d definitely be all over it :)).

  6. Thanks for hosting this timely and fun event, Joelen! A roasted vegetable sandwich is a great idea and I think that might be just the ticket for tonight’s supper!

  7. Another great idea! Sometimes the best meals come of just throwing items together and creating on the fly!

  8. Everything looks SO yummy! Droolicious!
